Lucia Nicola

Lucia Nicola is professor of Engineering at the University of Padova, Italy, and part-time professor at Delft University of Technology, the Netherlands. Her research activity focuses on the development and application of modeling techniques from the atomistic to the continuum scale to study the mechanical behavior of materials.

She received her PhD in Physics from the University of Groningen, and held a postdoctoral appointment at Brown University before joining Delft University of Technology as faculty member and, in 2017, the University of Padova.

Prof. Nicola is part of the editorial board of Modeling and Simulation in Material Science and Engineering and Journal of Engineering Tribology, and is one of the Associate Editors of Mechanics of Materials. In 2015 she was awarded an ERC consolidator grant from the European Research Council.
