John has 17 years of experience at Castrol/BP focused on mechanical lubricant testing, test method development and computer-aided-engineering (CAE). Over the last 5 years he has developed BP’s lubricant physical properties models, targeting accurate fluid characterization techniques and methods of combining and embedding them into commercially available CAE platforms. These tools are used to evaluate the effect of lubricants on engine components and performance. He is also a keen data scientist and enjoys playing with python having recently gained a Level 4 data analyst qualification. He graduated from Bath university with a master’s degree in automotive engineering in 2004 and became a chartered engineer in 2009.
