Rosa Espinosa Marzal is Associate Professor of Civil Engineering and at the Materials Science and Engineering Department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Her research interests includes fundamentally understanding mechanisms underlying aqueous and non-aqueous lubrication. Current tribological systems of investigation include ionic liquids, hydrogels, cartilage, graphene, and rock minerals.
Prof. Espinosa Marzal obtained her PhD at the Hamburg University of Technology, Germany and worked as research scientist at Princeton University and ETH Zurich before joining the University of Illinois in 2013.
Her work has been recognised with the 2019 Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
