M. Clelia Righi has been appointed Professor at the Physics Department of Bologna University, Italy. Her research activity focuses on the development and application of computational methods to understand and predict the behavior of materials from first principles, particularly of surface and interface phenomena.
Prof. Righi adopted pioneering approaches in computational tribology, as the use of ab initio molecular dynamics to simulate tribochemical reactions at sliding interfaces and the high-throughput screening of the adhesion and shear strength of hundreds of solids. In 2019 she received an ERC consolidator grant for the project “Advancing solid interfaces and lubricants by first principles material design” (SLIDE).
M. Clelia Righi is visiting professor at the Imperial College London, UK. She is part of the editorial boards of Lubricants, Lubrication Science, and Scientific Reports.
